Do you remember Garbage? If you do, and if you like(d) them, you’ll be happy to know that they are releasing their first album in seven years (via Billboard). The album is called Not Your Kind of People. The album is out on May 15, and will lead into a European tour, starting right here in London on May 9.
It’s 2012 – Do You Still Care About Ringo Starr?
If you answered yes to the Ringo Starr headline, then boy, do I have news for you. Ringo Starr has released his latest album, and he wasted no brain power to name it. Ringo 2012 is the album, and it is his 17th solo album, following a massive catalogue of releases with the Beatles. NME is streaming the 9 song album, so head on over there to listen to it.
Ridiculous Record: Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Daughter Youngest Ever on Billboard’s Charts
Earlier this week, Jay-Z became a dad. He celebrated by getting hammered! dropping a new track, featuring B.I.C. Anyone ever heard of B.I.C? If you dug a little deeper, you would’ve realized it stood for Blue Ivy Carter, the new daughter of Jay-Z and Beyonce. The end of the track, Glory, features Blue Ivy crying and generally making noise. Since she is credited on the track, and since the track is at #74 on the Billboard charts, this (rather ridiculously) makes Blue Ivy the youngest person ever credited on a Billboard song (via – you guessed it – Billboard). Eat your heart out, Jordy.
Madonna Does What She Does Best – Whores It Up Causes Controversey
Madonna continues to attempt to be edgy and push buttons by naming her new album MDNA (via NME). Is it a reference to the great Watson and Crick and their DNA discovery (hint: no)? Or is it a reference to *GASP* drugs? Or did Madonna just forget how to spell her name and ended up with that? Madonna is also going on a World Tour, where she will show off her gross man arms on stages everywhere.
Miike Snow are back. Who are Miike Snow? They are a collective of producers from Sweden & a singer from New York, who have several thumbs in several pies. Under different names and different times, they have dome everything from open for the Fugees, to produce Britney Spears’ hit single Toxic… yep – that was 2/3rds Miike Snow (working as Bloodshy and Avant at the time).
Let’s see – they also worked on Ms. Dynamite’s debut album (which won a Mercury), Kylie Minogue, Kelis, and somebody named Madonna; a pretty impressive pop resume.
The only other stuff I know about Miike Snow is that they’re first album was awesome, they have a new album out, and they have an unbelievable drummer.
Alex Metric is on the remix here, who never fails to give a huge buildup and drop. Nice work. Crack a beer, turn this up, and I defy you to not feel good.
Madonna Officially Announced as Super Bowl Halftime Act
What do The Who, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney have in common? If you guessed a history of heavy drug use or closer to death than us, you win! Also old but trying hard not to be is Madonna. She will join the list of seniors in the people who have hosted the Super Bowl halftime show, as Madonna has been announced as the official act for the 2012 game (via CNN). Anyone else have their fingers crossed that there is NO wardrobe malfunction?
Beady Eye Finally To Play Some Decent Tunes
Beady Eye, made up of 4/5 of Oasis (minus the 1/5 which had 4/5 of the songwriting talent), will now add some better songs to their live act. How will they be doing this? By adding Oasis songs to their usual Beady Eye setlist (via NME).
“It takes balls to go onstage and not play Oasis songs. I don’t miss those songs yet, but we’re definitely going to play them on the next tour.”
I would love to see a psychologist sit down and talk to Liam. I wonder what issues he has that has led him to have such low self esteem that he has to act like a big man (and usually an ass) 95% of the time.
Watch! Lou Reed and Metallica’s video for The View, Directed by Darren Aronofsky
What do you get when you mix Lou Reed, Metallica, and the director of the Black Swan? An even bigger mess would be an acceptable answer. If you want a visual answer, you can watch the video for The View (which is hopefully not a song abut that terrible talk show). The song is by Lou Reed and Metallica (the peanut better and jelly of collaborations, amiright?), and is directed by Darren Aronofsky, who is better known for directing Oscar-loved movies, like The Wrestler and Black Swan. Check out the results below.

Watch! The Black Keys on Saturday Night Live
Did you want Steve Buscemi host Saturday Night Live this past weekend? More importantly, did you watch the Black Keys play 2 songs from their new album, El Camino? The answer for me is no – I was locked in a broom closer by some bullies. That’s not even remotely true, but I’m addicted to lying. That’s also not true – or is it? I’m confused now and want a lollipop. Anyway, depending on what part of the world you are in, you can watch the videos for the Black Keys’ performance on SNL. My apologies to those in Antarctica, who might be part of the people who are blocked from NBC’s rebroadcast zone.
Lincoln Linkin Park have said that their next release will polarize people. This is a far cry from their usual releases, which everyone agrees are terrible.
Metallica are set to release an album with Lou Reed from the Velvet Underground. The two artists collaborated in October 2008 and have been BFFs ever since. Early reports indicated that the album will be available for free via Napster. Napster jokes – really? What’s next, jokes about Madonna and her cone bra?
Cone bra-wearing artist Madonna will be recording her 12th studio album. Madonna has stated that “I need to sweat …I’m on the lookout for the maddest, sickest, most badass people to collaborate with. I’m just saying.” Badass Pete I have not returned any phone calls from Madonna’s representatives. I’m making her sweat, just as desired.
A man claims to have shot Tupac back in 1994. This is man is not the Notorious BIG, as he is also dead and cannot do confessions from beyond the grave….or can he – Zombie Man! Tupac would have been 40 today, and also would have released WAY less music than if he had lived.
Glastonbury is this weekend, and will be headlined for the first time by U2. Full band list and schedule can be found here. For those who cannot attend, I cannot provide a link to enhance your sad lives. Or can I??
