Is Apple the Most Valuable Company of All-Time?
Remember when Apple was pretty much extinct about 20 years ago, before the Second Coming of Steve Jobs? Well, they have hit what people are calling an all-time record high for all companies, with the company’s valuation at $624 billion (via Digital Trends). This makes it the most valuable company in Wall Street history.
However, as Tech Crunch points out, this does not account for inflation. Inflation relates to those stories your parents told you about a beer costing them 5 cents when they were kids. In 1967, IBM was worth a present-day value of $1.3 trillion. So a trillion is worth more than a billion? I probably missed that in school. IBM’s $192.3 billion valuation in 1967, multiplied by the inflation rate of 6.85 gives you a headache historical leader when accounting for inflation. Suck on that, Apple!
Shocking fact: I wear women’s clothing ALL THE TIME The iPhone, which didn’t exist 5 years ago, has higher sales than all of Microsoft’s products (via iPhone in Canada). To quote Forbes, the iPhone had sales “more than Windows, Office, Xbox, Bing, Windows Phone, and every other product that Microsoft has created since 1975. In the quarter ended March 31, 2012, iPhone had sales of $22.7 billion; Microsoft Corporation, $17.4 billion.” Suck on that, Microsoft!
Green Day Teams with Angry Birds
With each new album a band makes, new marketing and promotional ideas are sought. It usually involves bands hopping on the latest trends, and consists of increasingly more unorthodox cross-promotions. The latest oddity: punk (read: emo) band, Green Day have teamed with mobile phone game Angry Birds (which I have never played!) to turn the band members into pigs in a new version of the game (via Digital Trends). “I thought they were already pigs” says Captain Lazy Joke Maker.
The new game is a 10-level one called Angry Birds Friends, and will have the band members as evil pigs. Check out the promo video below, and try to unlock songs by beating levels, rather than easily downloading the songs on torrent sites online.

Facebook + Angry Birds = Zero Work Productivity
Two of the more addicting things in life,
crack and alcoholFacebook and Angry Birds, will be combining forces (via iPhone in Canada). This Valentine’s Day, instead of stalking the object of your affection, you can stay indoors and play Angry Birds on Facebook. I’ve never been on Facebook, but I heard it is also a great way to stalk someone, so ignore what I said about stalking before. You can watch the official announcement, possibly signaling the end of your productivity at work, in the announcement video below.[youtube qS0NQ3CtKhg]
Morning Music Notes – Greatest Blog Post Ever, Without a Doubt
Remember the news that Metallica and Lou Reed are recording together? Well it turns out, Lou Reed is a fan of it. In fact, a direct quote is “It’s may be the best thing done by anyone, ever. It could create another planetary system. I’m not joking, and I’m not being egotistical.” Sounds pretty modest to me. Enough about that, I must keep writing at a hilarious and frantic pace, in order to create a planetary system of my own. Take that, Lou Reed.
Grooveshark to Become Artists Developers?
Grooveshark, best known for drunk friends hijacking playlists at house parties, is trying to focus more on artist development. CEO Sam Tarantino has said that “Ultimately we see the big core of this business as artist development. That includes signing deals, representing rights, and “actually growing the business” for bands like Austin-based Quiet Company.” So Grooveshark is the new MySpace, minus the 1990s style Geocities website layout?
Turntable.fm Party!
It seems like Turntable.fm is becoming quite the popular little group listening app. It’s like Grooveshark, in that you can take over a party with it, but you can pick your tunes, have a guest DJ spot, even have showdowns of sorts, to see who is cool and who should step off. Methinks some kind of drinking game or contest can be make with this app.
Artists Try to Combat Angry Birds
Artists are slowly but surely coming up with apps that are less promotional and more interactive and fun. Soulwax and Bjork are leading the charge these days, with their new apps. The Radio Soulwax app provides for 24 one-hour mixes, and also has visual accompaniment. Hopefully it is cooler than the visual accompaniments built into Windows Media Player. Meanwhile, Bjork is keeping her details a secret
because SHE’S A WITCH. Apparently it will consist of one app per song, and some sort of Mother app.
