Kanye West’s Cruel Winter Trailer Wasn’t Real

Remember that sort of cryptic, uninformative trailer for Kanye West’s follow up to Cruel Summer? The Cruel Winter trailer was full of arty shots, a George Bush speech, and was copyright to Kanye’s Donda production outfit. Well, it turns out it was made independently of Kanye / G.O.O.D. Music and isn’t real (via Pitchfork).

The director, Austin Christianson, told Fuse “Without getting into many details, I will say that the trailer was independently made and the video is essentially a concept trailer… It’s used for pitching an idea and/or concept to a client. With that said, the video was being used for pitching purposes and it’s naturally intended only for the client to see.”

Basically, millions of people saw the work of Christianson, so either the exposure is great, or he’ll never work with Kanye for the deception stunt he pulled. Let’s hope Kanye really does have Cruel Winter up his sleeves.
