Morning Music Notes – Beats by Reznor

Beyonce to Headline the Super Bowl. LET’S START THE JAY-Z GUEST SPOT RUMOURS!

Beyonce has finished making Illuminati babies for the time being and is ready to re-focus on her music career. First up was the inevitable guest appearance at Jay-Z’s string of 8 Brookyln shows. Now there are rumours from just about everyone that say a source told Associated Press that Beyonce will be strutting her stuff at the Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, 2013 for the Super Bowl (via NME).

Update: Beyonce posted a photo of her face with eyeblack featuring the words “Feb. 3, 2013.” That’s the date of the Super Bowl, so either she’s confirmed she’s appearing, or she’s REALLY pumped to watch the Super Bowl at home.

You can add this bet to your list of football prop bets: will Jay-Z make an appearance? Or even better – will there be a mini Destiny’s Child reunion? Why were they called Destiny’s Child when there was three of them?

Trent Reznor Teams Up With Beats by Dre

I’m a betting man – heck, I even mentioned it in the above paragraph. I don’t think I would’ve taken a bet that said a) Trent Reznor will sign for a major label and b) he will join forces with Beats by Dre to do some mysterious project. I wonder what that double would’ve paid? Maybe I should run a music betting website!

Trent Reznor told his Facebook fans that he has joined forced with Beats by Dre, which is the Dr. Dre headphone company which has made him rap’s richest dude.

Trent writes “Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up… I just can’t.
Not yet…
(I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!)”

I’m not expecting edible headphones – is it that, Trent?

Billy Corgan Considered Suicide Several Times, Surprises No One

Smashing Pumpkins’ melancholy (get it?!) singer, Billy Corgan, has admitted that he has previously planned his own death (via Gigwise). He has on Last Call with Carson Daly (which is still on?) “I almost killed myself about three, four, seven times. I literally started planning my death and what I would leave behind, and what I was gonna write. Three or four times in my life. What I finally realised, at least on the back end of this, is that God, at least as I understand God, was there all along. Once I was able to process my reality in that way, I no longer felt like a victim.”

Playing the God card, eh Billy? On the bright side, he didn’t commit suicide. Not just for music’s sake, but for the sake of friends and family, suicide is a hard way to lose someone you care about.

Grimes Has Cancelled Some Canadian Dates, She Can’t Hear You Complain About It

Grimes has cancelled her shows in Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg because of problems with her hearing. She writes on Twitter, “Hey guys, so sorry 4 the cancelled shows. im having trouble w hearing loss, tinnitus & am trying 2 stay away from loud music 4 a bit -_-”

What kind of emoticon is that?! It looks like a sleepy face, but maybe it’s a “I have tinnitus” emoticon that I never knew existed (but will likely need to use someday).

Watch! Regina Spektor – How

It seems like just the other day we were posting a rash of Regina Spektor songs from her latest album, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats. Her latest video is for the song How, which is a nice ballad from the album. The video is an artistic one, starting off with stark black and white footage, and then adding colour – like magic!

It looks like Regina had to make sure her lip syncing was bang on for this video, as almost every word is filmed. You hear that, Ashlee Simpson?
