Morning Music Notes – Holograms Reclaim Coolness After Years of Star Trek Shame

Tupac Shakur and Nate Dogg to “Appear” with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at Coachella

If the rumours are true, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are putting on a show for the ages. Besides having the coveted Sunday night headlining slot at this weekend’s Coachella festival, and with guest appearances from Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and Warren G, reports say that deceased rappers Tupac Shakur and Nate Dogg will appear via hologram for one song each (via NME). Tupac will join Dr. Dre for California Love, while Nate Dogg will join him for The Next Episode. Because the rumour has hit the public, if this doesn’t happen now, I’m pretty sure the crowd will undeservedly be pissed. If this hologram thing takes off, can we perhaps have a Beatles reunion, say Coachella 2013? Think about it.

Perhaps You Are Doing Something Wrong When the President of the United States Calls You a Jackass

Despite a tanking economy, conflicts in various countries, and unemployment problems in the USA, President Barack Obama had time to weigh in on his opinion of Kanye West, and Kanye vs. Jay-Z. Previously, President Obama had called Kanye West a jackass, and apparently he still stands by this decision (via Yahoo). In an interview with the Atlantic, Obama was asked if he was a Jay-Z guy or a Kanye guy. “Jay-Z … although I do like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy, smart. He’s very talented.” The reporter followed up with, “Even though you called him a jackass?” “He is a jackass,” Obama replied. “But he’s talented.”

Good luck sleeping tonight, Kanye.

Owen Pallett to Work With Linkin Park

Super string composer, Final Fantasy Owen Pallett is adding Linkin Park to his growing resume of artist collaborations (via Pitchfork). The Toronto native, who has worked with Arcade Fire, Alex Turner, Great Lake Swimmers, and many others, is now adding strings to a Linkin Park track called I’ll Be Gone. Seems like a bit of an odd match up, but then again, so was Jay-Z and Linkin Park.

“He’s incredible”, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington told Spin. “You send him notes and he’s immediately like, ‘I just sent you the track. Like, five minutes ago. It’s done.'” Stop saying like so much! The album is going to be out in June.

In Case We Needed Further Confirmation: Frances Bean Denies Mom Courtney Love’s Crazy Statements

The other day, Courtney Love came out and accused Dave Grohl of hitting on her daughter, Frances Bean. Frances issued a statement, preferring not to go the Twitter route.

“While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother.”

A lot of places and things should ban your mother. Frances famously became emancipated from her mom back in 2009.
