Morning Music Notes – Apparently the Grammys Happened Last Night?

Summary of the Grammys in Three Words

Adele won everything.

That’s all you need to know. Should you want to know more, stay tuned for our next post, which will be all about the Grammys, including videos, jokes, people not knowing who Paul McCartney is, and of course, the winners.

The Other Dominating News Headline: Whitney Houston

Before the Grammys, Whitney Houston died and left the music world in mourning. Again, tons of news stories about this, including tributes, cool tidbits, and people posting Oprah Winfrey pictures on tribute websites – wtf?! Anyway, another individual post will be dedicated to this, and will follow the post about the Grammys.

Facebook Uses Spotify Data to Determine Most Popular Songs for New Relationships and Breakups

Interesting piece of information, from everyone’s favourite website that knows way too much about you, Facebook. Since music streaming service Spotify is now linked in Facebook, and since Facebook knows when you enter or exit a relationship, they have combined the 2 pieces of info to let you know what songs are most popular when you announce you are in a relationship or have ended one (via Wired).

This sounds cooler than it is though, as most of the songs are simply Top 40 songs that are generally popular anyway, and not specifically tied into being excited about finally dating that girl you’ve been stalking for years. If you want a really cool list, stay tuned for the 2 lists from PeteHatesMusic, one dealing with heartbreak, the other dealing with love (which we are experts on). The Facebook list is below.

Facebook Singledom Songs (when you announce on Facebook that your relationship is over)

“Crew Love” by Drake
“All of the Lights” by Kanye West
“Rolling in the Deep” by Adele

No Coldplay or Justin Bieber?

Watch the trailer for the Dave Grohl documentary called Sound City

The previously announced documentary, Sound City, about the Sound City Studios now has a trailer. The studio was used for Nirvana’s Nevermind album (whatever that is), and will play host to musicians recording songs for part of the project. The names fly by at lightning speed, but some good musicians have swung by, and it should make for an interesting documentary.
