Morning Music Notes – Bono Helps the Blind

The Jay-Z / Kanye West collaboration album, Watch the Throne, can now be pre-ordered online, by checking out the official website. Not quite sure why it is a pre-order, as the very act of ordering it is an order; there is nothing pre about it. Stupid prefixes aside, the album features Beyoncé – not sure how the duo managed to get her to do this.

Blind Man Sings At U2 Concert

That headline would be a lot cooler if it said “sees” instead of “sings”. Rolling Stone reports a blind man holding up a sign saying that he wanted to play a song for his wife had his wish granted by Bono. When asked what song he wanted to sing, he did NOT say “Love is Blindness”, but rather “All I Want is You”. Bono even gave the man his guitar afterwards, but became suspicious when the man commented on how new it looked.

Radiohead Sets up Chinese Blogging Website?

So you’re one of the biggest bands in the world. You stun the world by self-releasing an album and charging fans whatever they feel like paying. What is your next logical move? Why, setting up a Chinese blogging website, of course. According to NME, Radiohead have launched a page on the ‘weibo’ site of the Chinese internal portal, Sina.com. What does this all mean? That Radiohead are big hypocrites, following their history of outspokenness on Chinese politics? That Radiohead are releasing some kind of Chinese-influenced album? Likely ‘no’ to the above, but we will see once they start blogging.

SuperHeavy Likely Won’t Live Up to Their Name

What do Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, and Damian Marley have in common? Besides being objects of my affection, they have all come together to form a “Super” Group, and have named themselves SuperHeavy. The band also contains former Oakland A’s and Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dave Stewart and A.R. Rahman. When asked what he has been doing since the Rolling Stones broke up in the 1960s, Mick Jagger burst out crying. SuperHeavy recorded 29 songs in 10 days, and includes over 35 hours of songs. Can you say “double album filler”? The album is going to be released September 20 in North America.

Death at Rosklide festival in Denmark

Sadly, a woman has died at this year’s Rosklide festival in Denmark. The woman fell 30m from a tower, which was being used for moustache aerial rides. The death was the first death at Rosklide since 2000, when Pearl Jam played and their heavy metal music incited riots that nearly destroyed the small country of Denmark people were crushed against the stage.
